HID stands for High-Intensity Discharge. They are also called 'xenon headlamps', because of the xenon gas used in the lamps. HID lights produce increased amounts of light as compared to halogen lamps and assist the driver in providing an extended and lengthened stretch of the road. They can thus help in increasing the overall safety of the driver. Another positive point of the HID lights is that their life expectancy is up to 10 times longer than the factory halogen Bulbs.
